Anthurium Amazon Princess Anthurium pallidiflorum × Anthurium warocqueanum A cross between two of the most celebrated pendant (hanging) velvet anthuriums in cultivation — A. pallidiflorum, the narrow strap-leaf Ecuadorian epiphyte with its extraordinarily long pendant velvet leaves; and A. warocqueanum, the Queen Anthurium of the Colombian cloud forests. Both parents share the pendant leaf habit, velvet surface, and high humidity requirements that make this cross a coherent and complementary pairing. The hybrid inherits the elongated, pendant leaf form of both parents with the white venation of the warocqueanum lineage reading across a velvety surface — an elevated position is essential to allow the leaves to hang freely to their full length. Light: Bright but soft indirect light — both parents are sensitive to direct sun which bleaches and damages the velvet surface. Soil: Open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage; never waterlogged. TemperatureHumidity: Warm to cool temperatures between 65-78°F with meaningful day-to-night differential; very high humidity of 70-80%+ is non-negotiable across both parent lineages. Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully. Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
