Anthurium Gladiifolium A pendant strap-leaf anthurium native to the tropical forests of northern South America, growing as an epiphyte with long, narrow, sword-shaped leaves — the species name references their blade-like form. The leathery leaves hang in a graceful cascade with a prominent midrib. An elevated or hanging position is ideal to allow the pendant leaves to hang to their full length. Light: Bright to moderate indirect light; more adaptable across a light range than velvet species. Avoid direct harsh sun. Soil: Open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage; never waterlogged. TemperatureHumidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70%+ supports the cleanest leaf emergence and healthiest growth. Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully. Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
