Product description

Name: Yellow‑Flowered Orbea (O. halipedicola, Yellow Flower Form)

Scientific Name: Orbea halipedicola

Family: Apocynaceae

Product Description:

A compact, clump‑forming stapeliad recognized for its short, four‑angled stems with small, evenly spaced tubercles along the margins. Stems are typically green to grey‑green, sometimes mottled or flushed under strong light. Growth remains low and tidy, forming a dense cluster of upright, angular stems. The yellow‑flower form produces star‑shaped blooms in soft to bright yellow tones, often with a slightly darker central ring. Flowers are lightly textured, with subtle surface wrinkling and a matte finish. Compared to the more common brown‑mottled forms, this yellow morph is cleaner and more uniform in color, giving it a striking, luminous appearance when in bloom.

Origination: Native to southern Africa; yellow form is a naturally occurring color variant

Height: Typically 2–4 in. tall; spreads slowly by offsetting

Hardiness: Warm‑climate succulent; protect from frost

Flower Color: Yellow, sometimes with a faint central ring or shading

Other Names: Yellow Orbea halipedicola; Yellow Stapeliad (informal)

Growing Instructions:

Provide bright light to full sun for compact growth and strong flowering. Use a fast‑draining, gritty substrate and water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry thoroughly between waterings. Growth is strongest in warm seasons, with reduced activity in winter. Protect from cold and avoid prolonged moisture around the roots. Flowers may attract pollinators typical of stapeliads, though this species has a milder scent than many in the group.

Ships in 3.5" pots. You will receive a plant similar to the ones pictured, though size and fullness may vary. A few broken leaves or small stems are normal during shipping and are not considered damage. Broken stems can be rooted once the cut end dries to start new growth. Plants may arrive semi‑dormant, and in winter they may naturally drop a few leaves. If your plant arrives rotting or dead, we will replace it. Please contact us with photo proof within 24 hours of delivery. After 24 hours, plant care becomes the buyer’s responsibility, though we’re always happy to answer questions and help you succeed. We also add brief instructions on getting started when you open your box. We want our plant babies to have happy new homes! 🥰

Heat packs are available to purchase in our shop for cold-sensitive plants. Keep in mind some plants we carry are very tropical and even cold, not freezing, temperatures can kill them. 📌IF YOU EXPECT COLD WEATHER, PLEASE PURCHASE A HEAT PACK! 📌 These are necessary for winter shipping, so I sell them at cost. I won't refund or replace any frozen plants unless you buy one!
