πΏπ Philodendron genevievianum ππΏ
(pronounced βfill-oh-DEN-dron jen-eh-VEE-vee-ah-numβ)
A rare Ecuadorian beauty with a velvety touch and deeply lobed shape,
Philodendron genevievianum is a species that feels both regal and understated.
Its leaves are long and softly textured, with a striking contrast between the
velvety, matte top surface and the pale, almost silvery undersides. The petioles
are covered in fine, fuzzy hairsβa charming detail that sets this species apart
from most other Philodendrons.
π‘ Care Tips:
βοΈ Light β Bright, indirect light keeps the leaves full and vibrant. Too much
sun can scorch the delicate velvet texture.
π§ Water β Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Allow the top inch (2β3
cm) to dry between waterings.
π‘οΈ Humidity β Prefers high humidity (70 %+). In dry air, leaf edges may
crispβuse a humidifier or display in an enclosed case.
π± Growth β A moderate climber with softly lobed leaves that can reach 12β18
inches long when mature. Petioles have distinct fine hairs, and new leaves
emerge with a subtle bronze tint before deepening to rich green.
π Difficulty: Intermediate (sensitive to low humidity)
πΎ Pet Safety: Mildly toxic if ingested; may cause stomach upset. All pets are
unique, and symptoms can vary in presentation or severity.
π Collectorβs Tip
Native to Ecuador, Philodendron genevievianum was only recently described and is
still uncommon in cultivation. Itβs sometimes confused with Philodendron
verrucosum, but it can be distinguished by its finer petiole fuzz and longer,
narrower leaves. This species thrives best with gentle airflow, consistent
humidity, and a moss pole for support.
Photos may not depict the exact plant you will receive; colors and size may
vary. You will receive the healthiest and best-looking plant from your size
selection.
