🌿💛 Alocasia gageana ‘Aurea Variegata’ 💛🌿

(pronounced “ah-loh-KAY-shuh gah-JEE-ah-nuh AW-ree-ah vah-ree-GAH-tah”)

Also known as Variegated Dwarf Elephant Ear or Golden Variegated Gageana.

This sun-kissed Alocasia is a showstopper, combining bold tropical form with golden marbling that seems to glow from within. Alocasia gageana ‘Aurea Variegata’ features broad, upward-facing leaves splashed and streaked with buttery yellow, lime, and deep green—each leaf a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Its compact stature makes it perfect for indoor displays where its vibrant coloration can take center stage.

💡 Care Tips:

☀️ Light – Bright, indirect light brings out the strongest yellow variegation. Avoid harsh direct sun that can burn lighter areas.

Water – Keep soil evenly moist but never soggy. Consistency is important to Alocasia.

This plant will be shipped to you in our homemade semi-hydro set up! (Sphagnum Moss, pumice, orchid bark & biochar for anti-compactionaeration, fungal mitigation above a LECA-clay balls- water reservoir).

🌡️ Humidity – Prefers high humidity (60–80%). Dry air can lead to browning edges. Best in temps of 65–85°F (18–29°C).

🌱 Growth – Creeping (not climbing) philodendron with a rhizomatous growth habit. Mature leaves can grow over 18 inches wide indoors with proper care. Slow to moderate grower.

📊 Difficulty: Intermediate (forgiving once settled but sensitive to neglect or inconsistent conditions).

🐾 Pet Safety: Toxic if ingested. Contains calcium oxalate crystals which can irritate the mouth, throat, and stomach. All pets are unique and reactions may vary in symptoms and severity.

🌟 Collector’s Tip:

Genealogical Mystery: The exact origin of this cultivar is somewhat obscure; most of the known plants in circulation come from a few tissue-cultured lines. Collectors often compete for these rare lines, giving it a legendary, almost treasure-hunt status in the aroid community.

Growers choice-Photos may not depict the exact plant you will receive; colors and size may vary. You will receive the healthiest and best-looking plant from your size selection.
