The Mexican Red Rumps has a dark velvet body with a fire red abdomen and long hairs. Females can get up to 6” dls, while males can get up to 5” dls. This is a terrestrial tarantula with males typically living 5-8 years and females 20-25 years.
This species is very hardy, medium growth rate, and easy to care for making these a great beginner species.
They are know for their docile and calm temperament. They can kick hairs as a defense mechanism as well as become skittish. However they are usually out and make a great display tarantula. Slings typically burrow while adults prefer a hide.
They are currently about 12-34" (dls) and eating x-small mealworms.
