If you’re looking for a classic that never goes out of style, the Hoya 'Krimson Queen' is the ultimate royal addition. This is the "outer variegated" version of the beloved Carnosa, featuring elegant creamy-white to pink borders that frame a deep emerald center. It is the perfect beginner-friendly Hoya that still carries heavy "collector" vibes.
The Highlights
Outer Variegation: Features a crisp white-to-cream margin along the edges of the leaves.
The "Pink" Factor: New growth often emerges in a stunning, bright bubblegum pink before maturing to cream. Some vines may even produce rare, "all-white" or "all-pink" ghost leaves!
Pot Size: Established and full in a 4-inch nursery pot, often with long vines starting to search for a trellis.
Classic Blooms: Produces large, spherical umbels of fuzzy, pale-pink flowers with a dark red center that smell like chocolate or vanilla.
Why It’s a Shop Favorite
Timeless Beauty: Its clean, high-contrast look fits effortlessly into a "vintage botanical library" or "reading nook" setup.
Durability: The 'Krimson Queen' is famously resilient. It can handle a wide range of home conditions, making it a "safe bet" for both new and experienced plant parents.
Vertical or Trailing: While it looks beautiful trailing down a shelf, it is a vigorous climber that loves to wrap its way up a hoop or trellis.
Quick Care Guide
Light: Bright, indirect light is best to keep the white margins bright and encourage that signature pink new growth.
Water: Succulent-style watering. Let the soil dry out completely between soakings. The leaves are thick and waxy, storing water for long periods.
Substrate: Needs a very chunky, airy mix—standard for Hoyas—using plenty of orchid bark, perlite, and charcoal.
Humidity: Very adaptable. It thrives in standard household humidity but will always appreciate a little boost if available.

You can’t go wrong with these “starter plants!” This is my third box from Plant Nook and I’m always surprised how big the starters are. Everything is always so beautifully packaged and arrives so in tact and you can unwrap without damaging the plants!
