Product description

"Wonder Boy A" x "Ketchup Socks"Two names with a story behind each, though I only really know one side of it. "Wonder Boy A" came to me from Scott Cohen some years back, and I've never quite settled whether it's original Wonder Boy material or a self of it. Doesn't matter much. It throws wondrous emergent colors onto its offspring with real consistency, and the plant itself is large and vigorous, carrying that Tim Anderson knack for making something amazing out of species inputs nobody can quite pin down."Ketchup Socks" is the pollen parent, named by MalMal after a joke told during a live sale, which is as good a reason as any. It's a red crystal cross (by way of magnificum and "Greige") bred by Phil Iloo, and it's the plant I go to when I want red emergent leaves that actually hold their anthocyanin in the venation long after the leaf hardens. It's also bushier than most of the red crystal lineage plants in my greenhouse, which makes pulling offsets a much easier job.Put the two together and you get a seedling batch built on wonder and ketchup, which sounds like a fever dream but is, in fact, just Tuesday around here.
