✦ THE PLANTRY PLANT CO. ✦
"The Philodendron Mayoi takes its name from Dr. Simon Mayo — the Kew botanist who spent a career untangling the great, sprawling family of aroids. A fitting honor, because this is a plant that wears its botany on its sleeve: every feathered leaf and rust-red petiole a small lesson in just how beautiful good structure can be." — Mr. Phileas Plant
The Plant
The Philodendron Mayoi is a climbing aroid from the rainforests of Brazil, prized for its deeply cut, feather-fingered leaves carried on slender, rust-blushed petioles. Often mistaken for a fern or a young palm, it brings palm-like drama in a compact, well-mannered form — bold texture without the towering height.
This specimen is settled into a clear nursery cup of Fluval Stratum, carrying five deeply divided green leaves on reddish petioles. The clear cup is no accident — it lets you see a healthy, established root system for yourself, the surest sign a plant is rooted in and ready to grow. Give it a moss pole and each new leaf will arrive larger and more elaborately cut than the last; leave it to scramble and it will oblige with equal grace. Care is refreshingly uncomplicated — she forgives the odd missed watering and bounces back without sulking.
