Rhipsalis ewaldiana (Mistletoe Cactus)
This striking epiphytic jungle cactus is native to Brazil, where it can be found
clinging to tree branches in wet, tropical biomes. Native to the rainforests of
Brazil, this epiphytic cactus thrives in humid, shaded environments where it,
absorbing moisture and nutrients from its surroundings.
Mistletoe Cactus has pencil-thin, deep green, triangular, branching stems that
can reach the length of 24" and width of 12", creating foliage that strikingly
resembles green waterfalls. The plant has a bushy appearance as the stems flare
out in multiple directions. The young stems (usually the tips) have a bright
yellow-orange color and slowly turn into a deep green as they get older. The
star-shaped flowers which bloom in the spring are small and white, and have a
delicate, sweet fragrance. The cascading growth habit makes it perfect for
hanging baskets where the trailing stems create dramatic visual impact.
Mistletoe Cactus thrives well in humid climates because its natural habitat is
the rainforest, making it important to maintain adequate humidity levels for
optimal growth.
Care Requirements: Morning sun and full shade in the afternoon—do not thrive in
direct sunlight which can burn leaves or cause spotting. Not cold hardy below
30°F (-1.1°C). Temperature between 50-80°F (10-27°C). Well-draining cactus mix
combined with mineral grit such as coarse sand, perlite, or pumice. Not
drought-resistant; this is a jungle cactus! Water when soil is surface dry.
Maintain humidity with regular misting. Perfect for beginners and hanging basket
displays.

I used to visit Floriculture in person when I lived nearby, they have so many cool and unusual items, and a wide range of tropical plants! The knowledge and experience shows, their plants are so healthy and I always learn something new. Great shipping and my plant arrived in excellent shape. Thank you, excited to see them on Palmstreet so I can remain a customer 🙌🏼🙌🏼
