Shadow Roaches are a parthenogenic species of jet black roach that thrive in humid substrate and bioactive enclosures. They burrow during the day, and are active above ground at night, making them a great feeder to throw in your gecko tanks. Adults are a little under 1" long, si they are a perfect size for most adult geckos. They are also amazing at eating 💩 and other waste in your bioactives. I don't know why more people don't use these as a clean up crew addition, or as a way to add more variety to your herp's diet. To cultivate, I keep them in 2-3" of moist substrate with lots of leaf litter and rotten wood, and add suplimental food sources like fresh veggies weekly.
