U.S. BASED Platycerium veitchii Auburn River cv. 'Chief' – Staghorn Fern
An elite form of the iconic silver staghorn.
Platycerium veitchii ‘Auburn River’ available—a rare and highly coveted selection of P. veitchii noted for its vertical fronds, heavy silver coating, and crisp architectural form. This is one of the few cultivars available that loves to be grown outside here in California. As the name implies, it is native to the Auburn River region of Queensland Australia, where it is found clinging to rocks and trees alike. This cultivar develops with striking contrast and symmetry, and loves growing in bright indirect light. In domestic circulation it remains exceptionally scarce, with very few collectors holding mature specimens in the U.S.
