3 pads super easy to root and the easiest cactus to grow. I live in Central texas and mine are outside year round. The momma cactus is planted in ground...but you can put them in pots, shallow pots are best. These are known as a spineless cacti, but dont believe that crap, they have spines...the spines are hard to see as they are translucent and small. They are a booger to get out. Last pic is my successful grafting of a cholla pencil cactus on a pad..
