Syngonium ‘Milk Confetti’

Description & Rarity:

Syngonium ‘Milk Confetti’ is a gorgeous pastel cultivar prized for its creamy mint-green to milky leaves splashed and speckled with pink. Each leaf develops its own pattern, ranging from tiny pink freckles to larger blush-pink patches. Compared with common Syngonium varieties, Milk Confetti is a more collectible cultivar, although it has become increasingly available through specialty growers. Its soft pastel coloration and unpredictable pink markings make every new leaf a surprise.

Light:

Provide bright, indirect light to maintain the best coloration and encourage stronger pink markings. Gentle morning sun is usually beneficial, but avoid intense afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the pale foliage. Insufficient light may result in greener leaves, smaller growth, and longer spaces between nodes.

Water:

Water when the top 1–2 inches of substrate have dried. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain. Milk Confetti enjoys consistent moisture during active growth but should never remain in soggy or waterlogged soil.

Humidity:

Prefers 50–70%+ humidity. Higher humidity encourages lush growth and helps new leaves unfurl smoothly. Established plants generally adapt well to normal household humidity.

Temperature:

Ideal temperatures are 65–85°F (18–29°C). Keep away from cold drafts and avoid prolonged temperatures below approximately 55–60°F.

Soil:

Use a chunky, airy, well-draining aroid mix containing ingredients such as orchid bark, perlite or pumice, coco coirchips, and quality potting mix. The substrate should retain some moisture without becoming dense or waterlogged.

Fertilizer:

Feed with a balanced fertilizer at ¼–½ strength every 2–4 weeks during active growth. Reduce feeding when growth slows. Avoid excessive fertilizer, which can cause root damage and crispy leaf edges.

Coloration:

The characteristic pink “confetti” markings can vary dramatically from leaf to leaf. Pink coloration is naturally variable and cannot be guaranteed on every new leaf. Providing strong indirect light generally helps the plant display its best coloration.

Growth Habit:

Milk Confetti begins as a relatively compact, bushy plant, but mature Syngoniums naturally develop a climbing or trailing habit. A moss pole or other support can encourage larger, more mature foliage. It can also be regularly pruned to maintain a fuller, compact appearance.

Propagation:

Propagate from stem cuttings containing at least one viable node. Cuttings root readily in water, sphagnum moss, perlite, or another moist, airy propagation medium. Warm temperatures and increased humidity encourage faster rooting.

Toxicity:

Contains calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic if ingested. Keep away from pets and small children.
