🌿🇯🇵 Pothos ‘Teruno Amazon’
Description & Rarity: Pothos ‘Teruno Amazon’ is an uncommon Japanese collector cultivar of Epipremnum aureum from the highly sought-after Teruno series. It is prized for its distinctive foliage expression, with rich green coloration and unusual leaf characteristics that become increasingly noticeable as the plant establishes and matures. Like many Teruno cultivars, its appearance can vary somewhat between juvenile and mature growth. It is considerably harder to find than standard Pothos varieties, making it especially desirable among Teruno and Epipremnum collectors. 🌿✨
☀️ LIGHT: Provide bright, indirect light. Strong filtered light encourages compact growth and the best foliage expression. Gentle morning sun is generally fine, but avoid intense afternoon sunlight that can scorch the leaves.
💧 WATER: Water thoroughly when the top 1–2 inches of substrate have dried. Allow excess water to drain completely. Teruno Amazon prefers a slight dry-down between waterings rather than remaining continuously wet.
💦 HUMIDITY: Approximately 50–70% humidity is ideal. Higher humidity can encourage larger foliage and smoother unfurling, although established plants generally adapt well to average household humidity.
🌡️ TEMPERATURE: Maintain approximately 65–85°F (18–29°C). Warm, stable temperatures encourage vigorous growth. Protect from cold drafts and prolonged temperatures below approximately 60°F.
🪴 SOIL: Use a chunky, airy, fast-draining aroid mix. Orchid bark, coco chipscoir, perlite or pumice, and quality potting mix make an excellent combination. Always use a container with adequate drainage.
🌿 FOLIAGE: Teruno Amazon is grown primarily for its distinctive foliage characteristics. Leaf shape, texture, coloration, and overall expression can become more pronounced as the vine matures. Juvenile leaves may not fully represent what the plant can eventually produce.
🧗 CLIMBING: It can be grown as a trailing vine, but Epipremnum aureum is naturally a climbing aroid. Providing a moss pole, wooden plank, or similar vertical support encourages progressively larger, more mature foliage.
🌱 FERTILIZER: Feed with a balanced fertilizer at ¼–½ strength every 2–4 weeks during active growth. Reduce feeding during periods of significantly slower growth.
✂️ PROPAGATION: Easily propagated from stem cuttings containing at least one viable node. Root cuttings in water, sphagnum, perlite, or another airy propagation medium. Warm temperatures and moderate humidity encourage rapid rooting.
⚠️ IMPORTANT: Overwatering is the most common problem. Allow the substrate to partially dry before watering again. Inspect new growth periodically for thrips, spider mites, scale, and mealybugs.
🐾 PET SAFETY: Pothos are toxic if ingested by people and pets due to insoluble calcium oxalate crystals.

Wounded in Iraq on Valentine’s Day 2006. What tried to end me planted something new. Now I grow resilience and curate plant collections all over USA!
