The Red Dragon Flower, also known as Huernia schneideriana, is a Tanzanian succulent with star-shaped, velvety red flowers and soft, fleshy teeth on its 6–8 inch stems. It's a member of the Apocynaceae family and related to stapelia and hoodia. Here's a quick overview of this unusual succulent:
Flowers: Bell-shaped, 1–2 inches in diameter, with a brownish-red exterior and velvety reddish-black interior.
Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight near an east or west-facing window. Too much light can make the plant pale green or yellow.
Watering: Water only when dry, and allow the soil to become moderately dry between waterings. Overwatering can kill the plant.
Temperature: Heat and drought tolerant, but should be protected from freezing temperatures. Can be grown outdoors in the shade if the temperature is above 50°F.
Propagation: Can be propagated by stem cuttings or seeds. Cut a healthy stem at a 45° angle, let it dry and callous for a few days, then plant in well-draining soil.
