Extremely rare in nature, much more in captivity, Philodendron malesevichiae is endemic to a small region of the Republic of Panama and under threat as urban sprawl and deforestation clears them out along with other native flora and fauna.
A favorite of many gardeners back home, it is not of easy care and utmost caution should be taken when acquiring this sp. Even in its native Panama, local weather helps but does not guarantee survival without careful attention.
Unlike Philodendron verrcosum, this species has scaly rather than hairy petioles and of much more limited distribution.
