This hybrid combines the bold, velvety leaves of Anthurium crystallinum ex Antioquia with the dark, textured foliage of Anthurium papillilaminum. Seedlings from this grex typically produce thick, glossy leaves with striking venation and an upright, elegant growth habit. New leaves often emerge with a fresh sheen before settling into the deep, rich tones inherited from both parents. The term “ex Antioquia” refers to the specific origin or source population of the plant—in this case, Antioquia, a region in Colombia. In aroid horticulture, “ex [location]” is often used to indicate plants collected from the wild in a particular area. Plants from different regions can show subtle differences in leaf size, shape, or growth habit, so this is meaningful for collectors and breeders.
