Curio articulatus, commonly known as the Candle Plant, Hot Dog Cactus, or Pickle Plant, is a unique succulent from South Africa with segmented, sausage-like stems and arrowhead-shaped leaves that often turn purple in bright light. It is deciduous, losing its leaves in summer and becoming dormant, but grows new leaves and fragrant white flowers in winter. This plant needs bright, indirect light and well-draining soil, and it is drought-tolerant but toxic to pets and livestock.
