Vast groves east of the Mississippi river were eventually wiped out as settlers grazed their livestock on these canes that thrived in the nutrient rich soil of the flood plains. Help restore this native icon to its former glory and provide nature with a plant it has been lacking. Hardy to zone 5 at least, the roots are even hardier so colder zones can plant it and it will die back like a perennial and grow new canes come spring. It can get up to 20ft in favored conditions but around 10ft is more typical.
