I tried recovering the ārightā way. I waited to be saved. Nothing came. So I deviated. I chose a different route. I stopped waiting on divine intervention and took control of my own life. Everyone fights personal demons. I grew tired of fighting mine. I turned every demon I had into fuelāinto an armyāand fought my way out of hell. I saved my own life. Thatās DV8ED (Deviated). Itās the program I built from that experience, now a fellowship and an alternative program for anyone whoās done waiting and ready to take ownership of their life. I now help save the lives of others who are struggling to get their lives back. I do counseling and provide the love and respect my clients need - when the rest of the world turned their backs on them. DV8ED is a fellowship and charity. DV8ED is brotherly love at its finest. The horns and tail? Not religion. Not worship. Not ideology. Not evil. Itās metaphor. Who else but the ādevilā turns demons into an army and rises up from hell? š DV8ED isnāt Satanic or religious. Itās self-empowerment. Itās taking your life backāno excuses. We rebel against steps, traditions, principles and promises that do not make sense and do not work for us. Though our imagery may look dark or Satanic, it is symbolic only. We do not promote evil. People of all beliefs are welcome. šš¼ The DV8ED Foundation: My name is Eddie Ladner, founder of the DV8ED Foundation. For years, I struggled with drug addiction, incarceration, homelessness, and personal tragedy. My addiction ultimately led to a five-year prison sentence. During that time, I immersed myself in the study of addiction, psychology, biology, neurology, physiology, and human behavior, determined to understand the true causes of addiction and how recovery actually works. After my release, I faced a series of devastating hardships, including the loss of my wife to brain cancer, years of homelessness, being robbed and shot, multiple major surgeries, and recovery on the streets of New Orleans. Despite these obstacles, I refused to give up. Through my experiences and research, I developed a different approach to recoveryāone based on personal responsibility, self-empowerment, education, accountability, and rebuilding purpose. I called this approach DV8ED because it deviates from traditional recovery models that did not work for me. Today, I have been free from homelessness and addiction for more than six years. I rebuilt my life from nothing, started my own business, and founded the DV8ED Foundation to help others do the same. I've been buying and selling silver, gold and coins locally here in New Orleans. I've recently donated all of my collection to The DV8ED Foundation. The DV8ED Foundation provides peer support, recovery guidance, mentorship, and community assistance for individuals and families facing addiction, homelessness, financial hardship, and life crises. In addition to recovery support, we have helped families with groceries, utility bills, transportation needs, and emergency assistance when resources allowed. Our goal is simple: help people reclaim their lives, discover their own strength, and build a future they never thought possible. The DV8ED name represents a willingness to take a different path (deviating/DV8ED) when conventional solutions fail. Our imagery symbolizes overcoming personal demons and adversityānot religion, politics, or ideology. People of all beliefs and backgrounds are welcome. As we work toward expanding our programs and obtaining 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, we rely on my personal donations and community support.
