Palmstreet Official

This policy is not comprehensive, nor is it intended to be legal advice. It is each seller's responsibility to ensure their livestreams, listings and sales adhere to our Terms & Conditions as well as any applicable laws and regulations around the sale and shipping of live animals.

Animal Health and Our Commitment to Ethical Standards

At Palmstreet, the health and well-being of animals is our highest priority. We have strict policies in place to ensure that only healthy, well-cared-for animals are listed for sale. Animals exhibiting deformities, signs of illness, or infestations such as mites are not permitted to be sold on our platform under any circumstances.

If a buyer receives an animal that is later discovered to have mites or any undisclosed health condition, they are entitled to either a full refund or a return at the seller’s expense. This policy helps protect both the animals and the integrity of our marketplace, ensuring a safe and ethical environment for enthusiasts and breeders alike.

Our community thrives when animal welfare is placed first, and we stand firmly behind that commitment.

Approved Sourcing & Origin Standards

Palmstreet supports a range of responsible sourcing practices to ensure both accessibility and sustainability within the reptile community.

Approved Origin Categories:

  • Self Produced (SP) – Produced and raised by the seller within their own breeding program
  • Captive-Bred (CB) – Born and raised in captivity
  • Captive-Born (CBO) – Born in captivity from non-captive lineage
  • Imported (IMP) – Legally sourced through regulated international supply chains

“Imported” refers to animals acquired through compliant global trade channels and does not include domestic wild collection. All sellers must use appropriate tagging when making listings.

Imported Animal Policy (Reptiles)

Palmstreet allows the sale of imported reptiles under strict ethical, legal, and welfare standards.

Reptile Requirements:

  1. Must be legally acquired and compliant with:
  • Lacey Act
  • CITES
  • Applicable State/Local laws
  1. Willing to provide proof if requested by buyer or Palmstreet:
  • CITES
  • U.S. Fish & Wildlife Declaration (Form 3-177)
  • Import/Commercial Invoice
  • Health Certificates (Country of Origin) - Applicable
  1. Must originate from established, reputable international suppliers
  2. Must be fully acclimated, stable, and feeding consistently prior to sale (90 days+)

Failure to follow the guidelines of this policy will result in the suspension of your Palmstreet selling account, removal of selling privileges, or removal from the platform.

Shipping

We care deeply about the proper care of living creatures, and require our sellers to ship live animals using specific shipping services to minimize stress. Animals must be shipped during optimal weather conditions, avoiding extreme temperatures and harsh weather. Additionally, shipping must be scheduled to minimize transit time and avoid weekends or holidays to prevent delays.

If extreme weather is in the forecast, shipments should be delayed and the buyer should always be informed.

Allowed Shipping Formats

Reptiles, Frogs

  • Next-Day UPS
  • Overnight Fedex / USPS

Sellers MUST utilize LIVE animal shipping labels, we encourage our sellers to buy labels through Palmstreet using ShipZeros or Redline!

All Other Animals (incl. Aquatics, Invertebrates)

  • Invertebrates
  • 2-day shipping or better
  • Aquatics
  • Coral: Next-day or 2-day shipping (At seller & buyer discretion)
  • Fish: Next-day or 2-day shipping (At seller & buyer discretion)

Buyer Responsibilities

It is essential that buyers pick up their live animal orders from a shipping hub on the day they arrive to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the animals.

Live animals are sensitive to stress, temperature changes, and extended confinement, and leaving them at the hub beyond arrival day increases the risk of dehydration, injury, and even mortality. Prompt pickup minimizes stress and ensures proper care.

Failure to pick up the animal on the day of arrival may result in the shipment being returned to the seller with no refund issued.

Summary

Palmstreet continues to do all we can to support the ethical and responsible care for animals sold on our platform and the environments they come from. Some long-term plans include:

  • Provide more care information per species (lifespan, care required, etc.)
  • Additional support for animal adoptions, rescues, and veterinarians
  • Give sellers more information about the experience level of buyers

Together there is much we can accomplish. For every single individual animal keeper out there, there are actions you can take to promote ethics and responsibility. Even the smallest step can have a significant impact.
