How to Use Weather Check for Temperature-Sensitive Shipments

Shipping live plants or temperature-sensitive products during extreme weather can be risky. Weather Check helps you ship smarter by checking the forecast at your buyer’s location — so you know whether it’s safe to ship, if special packaging is needed, or if you should hold the order until conditions improve.

What is Weather Check?

Weather Check is a built-in tool in Seller Hub that reviews the weather forecast at the buyer’s delivery address before you ship. It helps you make informed decisions and protect your products from temperature damage.

For each order, Weather Check provides one of the following recommendations:

  • Ship now — Safe to ship.
  • Add insulation – Mild temperature risk; insulation is advised.
  • Add heat pack – Cold weather conditions; heat protection required.
  • Add cold pack – Hot weather conditions; cooling protection required.
  • Hold shipment — Temperatures are outside the safe range; shipping is not recommended.

This tool is especially useful for plant sellers or anyone shipping temperature-sensitive goods.

How to Use Weather Check

Step 1: Set Up Weather Check

  1. Go to Seller Hub › Weather Check.
  2. Choose a default shipping service and shipment date that match your typical delivery schedule.
  3. Set your safe temperature range, and adjust your cold- or warm-weather packaging rules based on your products’ needs.
  4. Click Save to apply your settings.

You can review your setup anytime in the Temperature Range Overview section.

Step 2: Run Weather Check on Your Orders

  1. Go to My Orders › Shipping Orders.
  2. Select the orders you want to check.
  3. Run Weather Check.

After the tags are created, a Weather Tag will appear next to each order, indicating whether it’s safe to ship or if special packaging is needed based on the forecast for that delivery address.

Step 3: Review and Filter Results

You can use the Weather tag filter at the top of the column to quickly view only the orders that need special handling or to identify which ones are safe to ship right away.
