Recently there were accusations against one of our sellers for wearing racially-charged attire at the end of their livestream. When we were made aware of this issue, we took action and suspended the seller's account, pending a deeper investigation. Since then, the seller has released an apology video as well as a clip of the original livestream for added context. After a thorough review of the entire situation, talking to many users and other sellers on the platform, we found no evidence that there was any intent of racial discrimination from this seller. As a result of our investigation, we have lifted the seller's temporary suspension.
We want to foster an inclusive, diverse community on Palmstreet, and issues of this nature are important to address for all parties involved, as well as for the overall sense of community. At the same time, we have an obligation to follow due process and make a determination about the intent as well as the content in question. We take this very seriously, and will continue to address issues going forward in a methodical, fair manner.
