Begonia Roseopunctata 🌸 is a rare, compact, shrub-like tropical plant highly prized by collectors for its stunning "rosy-spotted" foliage. First scientifically described by botanist Ruth Kiew in 2015, this exotic perennial is native to the humid tropical rainforests of the Sarawak region in northern Borneo, Malaysia. Its name perfectly mirrors its appearance, deriving from the Latin words for "rosy" 🌸💕 (roseo) and "spotted" (punctata) New growth emerges in a fresh yellow-green hue before gradually maturing into deep, dark green tones. The thick, waxy leaves feature a vibrant fluorescent pink border and are covered in distinctive neon-pink spots (macules) scattered across a textured dark green surface. Belonging to the Petermannia section of the Begonia genus, it grows compactly with a rhizomatous growth pattern. It can be trained to climb up moss poles or high-humidity backgrounds, which encourages the plant to produce larger leaves.🌡High humidity (70% to 95%) is crucial. If the air is too dry, the delicate edges of the leaves will quickly begin to curl. It thrives best in bright, indirect light. Adequate indirect light causes the pink spots and margins to turn incredibly vibrant; keeping it in low light will make the pattern fade into a dull, greenish color. Direct sunlight must be avoided as it will scorch the leaves.
