Begonia chloroneura — Species
*FLOWERING SIZE*
Native to the Philippines, Begonia chloroneura is a high-contrast understory begonia associated with humid mountain forest where plants tuck into shaded rock crevices and thin organic pockets that stay damp without holding stagnant water. Leaves are elliptical and brownish purple to deep red-brown with vivid chartreuse veining, plus a red reverse that shows at the edges. New leaves often emerge with a heavier coat of red hairs, then the fuzz concentrates more along the margins as the blade hardens. In season it produces pale pink to white flowers held just above the foliage.
