Alocasia 'Nobilis' Pink Variegated presents chimeric pink variegation on the critically endangered "kris plant," endemic to the forest understory of Northern Mindanao in the Philippines, formally published in 1884 by English nurseryman William Bull and named for horticulturist Henry Frederick Conrad Sander; its deeply sinuate, wavy margined leaves evoke the blade of the traditional Filipino kris dagger, while the 'Nobilis' form, first noted in horticultural literature in the 1890s and never formally accepted as a true botanical cultivar, though still widely used in the trade, is distinguished by more deeply lobed, architecturally pronounced foliage, including the pronounced basal "horns" where the posterior lobes flare and curve outward at the leaf base like a pair of pointed spurs. True chimeric variegation of this depth is rare within 'Nobilis' lines and can take considerable patience to stabilize, occasionally receding and reappearing over many months before settling, but on this plant it shows as a striking combination of deep green, creamy white, and vibrant pink across each glossy, arrow shaped leaf, with pronounced contrasting veins and a pattern unique to every leaf. This upright tropical aroid produces a compact, architectural form well suited for collectors and indoor plant enthusiasts alike, thriving in warm temperatures, elevated humidity, bright indirect light, and a coarse, well draining substrate that holds consistent moisture while maintaining excellent aeration, with new leaves emerging in increasingly dramatic coloration as it matures, making it one of the most distinctive and sought after variegated Alocasias in cultivation.

TC plants are grown in a laboratory environment on nutrient-rich agar and have not yet been acclimated to greenhouse or household growing conditions. Upon receipt, buyers will be responsible for the acclimation process, including removal from the culture media and transition to appropriate humidity and growing conditions.
