Begonia Pink Spot Care Guide

Begonia Pink Spot is usually grown for its dramatic spotted foliage and soft pink-toned accents. Most forms behave like cane or shrub-type begonias and love warmth, humidity, and bright filtered light.

Light

* Bright indirect light is best.

* A little gentle morning sun can enhance color.

* Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun — begonia leaves scorch fast.

Too little light can cause:

* stretched growth,

* dull coloration,

* fewer spots.

Water

* Water when the top inch of soil starts to dry.

* Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy.

* Begonias hate sitting wet for long periods.

Important:

* Don’t let water sit on the leaves constantly.

* Good airflow helps prevent fungal issues.

Humidity

* Loves moderate to high humidity (50–70%).

* Higher humidity helps prevent crispy edges and torn leaves.

* Avoid stagnant humid air though — airflow matters just as much.

Soil

Use a light airy mix:

* potting soil

* perlite

* orchid bark or coco chips

Begonias prefer oxygen around their roots.

Temperature

* Ideal: 65–82°F

* Protect below 55°F.

* Sudden cold drafts can melt begonia leaves quickly.

Fertilizer

* Feed lightly every 2–4 weeks during active growth.

* Balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength works great.

Too much fertilizer can burn roots and crisp leaf edges.

Common Problems

Crispy Edges

Usually caused by:

* low humidity,

* underwatering,

* salt buildup,

* or hot direct sun.

Powdery Mildew

Begonias are prone to it.

Prevent with:

* airflow,

* avoiding overcrowding,

* watering soil instead of foliage.

Leaf Melt

Often caused by:

* cold exposure,

* soggy soil,

* sudden environmental changes.

Propagation

Very easy to propagate:

* stem cuttings,

* leaf cuttings,

* or cane sections depending on the growth type.

Most root readily in water, moss, or perlite.

Pro Tip

Begonias love consistency more than perfection. Stable moisture, stable humidity, and stable temperatures will usually outperform constant tweaking and moving around.
